Damien Q. Elias
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
Damien Q. Elias serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Campus Door Holdings Inc. Mr. Elias founded the Company in 1995, expanded operations through structured venture capital, growing CampusDoor to be one of the largest lenders in the United States. In 2006, he negotiated the sale of the Company to Lehman Brothers and worked to structure the purchase of the Company from Lehman in 2009. Over the last several years he has returned the Company to a leadership position in the industry, enhanced and modified its product line and refocused the marketing channel reach. Mr. Elias leads the Company’s efforts in the development of new relationships with clients and channel partners and other opportunities.
For most of his professional career, Mr. Elias has been a part of the education finance industry. He worked for 10 years with the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), one of the country’s largest loan servicers, where he helped to start most of the private, alternative student loan programs in the U.S. While at PHEAA, he designed and implemented education finance products and services for over 350 financial institutions and developed new loan programs producing billions in loan portfolios. He played an instrumental role in the design, administration and operational support for the first public securitization of student loans in the industry and has created dozens of affinity-marketing programs for major financial institutions throughout the United States.
President & Chief Operating Officer
Steve Winnie is the President and Chief Operating Officer of CampusDoor. He also serves as the Corporate Secretary and Security Officer. In his various roles, Mr. Winnie oversees all operational, legal and regulatory matters and manages intake and implementation of new clients and loan programs. Mr. Winnie has established a robust Regulatory Compliance and Internal Audit Program at CampusDoor which includes a Quality Control Review and Reporting Process which serves to mitigate regulatory risk across all loan programs.
After graduating from Cornell Law School, Mr. Winnie worked in private practice in the Commercial Litigation Department of Philadelphia-based Pepper Hamilton, LLP. He then served as General Counsel to Campus Door, Inc. from 2006-2008. Mr. Winnie then worked as Associate General Counsel at Sallie Mae where his practice focused on private student loan originations, specifically marketing and advertising, new product development and regulatory compliance. Mr. Winnie rejoined CampusDoor in late 2009.
Mr. Winnie earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from Cornell Law School. He is also a graduate of the ABA National Compliance School held in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Winnie is admitted to practice law before the state and federal courts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mr. Winnie is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and events and his recent presentations have included Operational Impacts of the revised Truth-in-Lending student loan provisions and oversight of the private student loan industry by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
EVP & Chief Administrative Officer
Sondra Wolfe serves as the Executive Vice President and CAO of CampusDoor. Ms. Wolfe was active in the creation and growth of the Company since its inception in 1995. In addition to overseeing Facilities Management and Corporate Services, Ms. Wolfe manages the Information Technology and Project Management areas and is instrumental in facilitating the execution of the Company's initiatives.
Ms. Wolfe began her professional career at IBM, where she served in systems engineering and marketing capacities. After a successful, 10-year career with IBM, she founded a number of companies where she worked with customers in various industries evaluating existing corporate operations and streamlining procedures by implementing technological enhancements. Ms. Wolfe founded and operated one of the country's first broadband Internet Service Providers in the mid 1990's; developed a number of web based and stored value payment products including one of the first online shopping carts and the ubiquitous “buy button”. Ms. Wolfe managed the implementation of a merchant payment processor located in Dublin, Ireland, the product development related to that processor, and the integration of various EU portfolios onto the Ireland processing system.
SVP, Loan Production & Servicing
Jeff Ernst is the Senior Vice President of Loan Production and Servicing. In this role, Mr. Ernst oversees loan origination processing, operations and the contact center. In addition, Mr. Ernst manages client relations, business analysis software support, credit analytics and reporting. Mr. Ernst has worked to maximize efficiency of the origination loan "pull through" activities keeping CampusDoor at the top of industry. Mr. Ernst originally joined CampusDoor in July 2005 as the Vice President of School Sales and Referral Relationships. He rejoined CampusDoor in February 2011 in his current role.
Prior to working for CampusDoor, Mr. Ernst was in the Health Insurance Industry working for several insurance carriers over 17 years. His roles included Sales Management, Underwriting and Actuarial Risk Management. Mr. Ernst is a graduate of Shippensburg University in South Central Pennsylvania and holds both Master of Science and Bachelor's degrees in Applied Mathematics.
SVP, Chief Architect, Information Technology
Ed Piccolo is an application design specialist with over 25 years' experience in information technology and education finance. He has led the design and development of each of the new generations of CampusDoor's loan origination platform, including the current version, known as TuitionSource v4. Mr. Piccolo and his team of software developers deliver continual enhancements to meet the fast paced changes of the education industry and the demands of regulatory oversight. He has a diverse background in industries including education finance, credit card processing, manufacturing, health care and retail, along with experience in both private and government organizations. His experience includes leading development teams through system builds, guiding companies through technology conversions, leading support teams for mission critical applications and setting technology strategies for businesses. Mr. Piccolo prides himself on being able to bring business and technology together to build better solutions for CampusDoor and its clients.
SVP, Chief Technologist, Information Technology
Peter Zandvoort is a broad spectrum technologist with a 25 year background in hardware and software design and a focus on IT systems infrastructure. He designed and implemented the original CampusDoor network and systems and has supported them for the last 14 years. Mr. Zandvoort's past experience includes creating a provisioning platform for broadband Internet operators, creating a smartcard payment application and web payment gateway for a large credit card processor, and creating and running CampusDoor's mission critical IT infrastructure. Mr. Zandvoort successfully led the Company through a complete technology de-integration from the Lehman Brothers worldwide infrastructure and has rebuilt the Company's information technology systems and support. His areas of expertise include desktop, servers, networking, security and voice. Mr. Zandvoort is convinced that technology only exists to empower its users.
SVP, Delivery Solutions
David Knutelsky is the Senior Vice President of Delivery Solutions responsible for the continued delivery of improved applications and reporting to support CampusDoor's needs. He originally joined CampusDoor in November 2005 as the Assistant Vice President of Sales where was responsible for sales activity throughout the country. In August 2006, he became the Assistant Vice President of Application Solutions to expand the application development activities. He returned to CampusDoor in September 2012 to continue to build on the successes realized by CampusDoor over the past few years. Mr. Knutelsky has over 25 years of experience working in information technology, sales and business management for a variety of industries to include department of defense, healthcare, education, financial services and manufacturing. Mr. Knutelsky is a graduate of Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania with a degree in Mathematics with a concentration in Computer Science.
SVP, Finance and Analytics
Charles Chen serves as Senior Vice President of Finance and Analytics. In this role, Mr. Chen directs the financial operations of CampusDoor and works with the senior management team to develop, implement and monitor strategic initiatives. He also oversees the data analysis and monitoring of component performance associated with the Company's portfolio production.
Prior to joining CampusDoor, Mr. Chen was a Vice President at Scura Paley and Company, a middle market investment bank located in New York. From 2010 to 2013, Mr. Chen co-founded and managed CapBridge Advisers, a consulting firm headquartered in Hong Kong which specialized in cross-border investments in Asia and the United States. Mr. Chen earned his MBA in Entrepreneurial Management and MA in International Studies from the Wharton School and Lauder Institute of the University of Pennsylvania, and received his BSc degree in Finance from the Stern School at New York University. Prior to Wharton, he was an Associate at Scura, Rise & Partners and an Operations Specialist at Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. Mr. Chen is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.
